Ad Fontes, meaning, “back to the source” in Latin, was a closely held belief for Martin Luther, among many others. Luther believed that old Greek sources were more important than the Pope’s word, which led him to become the father of Lutheranism. These decks tell the story of the Renaissance, and to add a layer of authenticity, these cards have been hand-drawn by artiest Ritu Bhattacharya using prevalent artistic techniques from the era.
This set consists of the standard Scholar edition and the rare gilded version of the Regal edition. Both tuck boxes employ an unusual side-opening design, and the Regal edition features embossed gold and copper foils printed on soft-touch stock.
The cards have been designed using techniques such as Chiaroscuro and Sfumato, and include an amazing amount of hidden details about each of the characters presented on the court cards. Finally, the luxurious gold gilding on the Regal edition cards turns this rare deck into a true treasure.
