Inferno by Balthasar Epprecht

This exceptional deck is inspired by the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri, specifically the most famous part of the book where Dante (the character) traverses the Inferno (hell).  It also commemorates the 700th anniversary of novel's publication, which occurred in the year 2021.

This is the most feature-packed version of the deck.  The tuck box comes inside a deluxe book box with a magnetic closure and hot foil printing on both front and back, a feature shared by the tuck box itself. A fiery pattern has been printed inside the tuck box which evokes those found on medieval books.

The cards have been designed in the style of illuminated manuscripts (codex) from the middle ages, most obviously the back design and the embellishments on the court cards and pips.  The courts feature asymmetrical portraits of many of the most famous characters from the novel, while the aces each have such a one-way design.  The back design is printed entirely in gold cold foil, and much of the faces of the cards enjoy the same shiny application.  Finally, the cards are also gilded in gleaming gold.
