This is a special remastered edition set of first Stockholm17 deck funded with Kickstarter in 2014. Since the original 2014 Requiem (red faces and printed by USPCC) could not be reprinted to honor the promise to the campaign's backers, Lorenzo created Black Requiem Counterspell instead. This complete set includes both the Patreon-exclusive limited edition and the standard edition, as well as a signed uncut tuck box within a Patreon-exclusive luxury display frame.
The Patreon edition is limited to only 550 signed and numbered decks, and features a tuckbox with intricate die-cuts on the front and both sides, white and black foil on the outside, deep-red inner-printing, embossing, the darkest black premium matt stock available, and a special custom deck seal. Most notably, a heavy metal plate has been inserted into the tuck box which protrudes through the frontal die-cuts, showing the most iconic character from the deck as though encased in carbonite (reminiscent of Han Solo from Star Wars).
The cards feature stunning, original artwork from the 2014 Requiem decks with the inclusion of the namesake magick "counterspell" sigils to neutralize the sins depicted thereon. As a significant upgrade, the back design is now printed in gold cold foil while the faces of the cards have both gold and silver cold foil, making each card look like a treasure. Finally, the limited edition cards have been gilded in gold which shines through the die-cuts on the sides of the tuck box.
The tuck boxes for both editions have been printed in Italy by the experts at Boschiero & Newton, while the cards have printed in Belgium by the renowned specialists at Cartamundi.
The exclusive uncut tuck and display frame combo is the perfect way to display the limited edition Black Requiem. The uncut tuck fits perfectly within the frame, and a magnetic acrylic case secures the deck to the frame, making it float in midair. The floating effect can be difficult to achieve with the cellophane intact, and may be easier if the cellophane is removed.
